We partner with trusted, vetted local travel operators, each handpicked for their expertise in the destinations we visit.

They handle logistics such as transportation, accommodations, and activities, allowing us to create itineraries that align with our Host’s vision while promoting sustainable tourism by supporting the communities we visit.

About the

Each trip with Bouken Host includes :

  • Accommodation: Comfortable stays in handpicked hotels. 
  • Activities: All planned activities and experiences as outlined in the itinerary.
  • Guides: Experienced local guides, experts in Japan’s culture, will assist the host in leading the group throughout the journey.
  • Meals: Daily breakfast, and one group dinner at the start of the trip to bring everyone together and kick off the adventure.
  • Transportation: All transportation within Japan, including trains, buses, and local transport.
  • Flights to and from Japan
  • Additional meals (lunches, dinners, except the included group dinner)
  • Travel insurance (recommended) While we don’t offer travel insurance, we do recommend purchasing it. Read more here
  • Personal expenses (shopping, optional activities, etc.)

Group sizes vary depending on the trip, with the minimum and maximum determined by the Host. However, we generally cap groups at 22 people to ensure an intimate and personalized experience.

Yes, your trip is fully guided!  You’ll always be accompanied by your Host, as well as a local experienced guide who will lead you through your journey. 

Each trip is categorized between Level 1 and Level 4, based on the physical demands.

  • Level 1: Chill trip where you won’t break a sweat. Examples, Cooking class, Onsens, Market visits.
  • Level 2: Some movement is required. Think catching the train. Examples: Longer walking tours, Pottery classes.
  • Level 3: Moving into active holiday territory. Examples: Bicycling, Skiing, Scenic hikes.
  • Level 4: We are now climbing Mt. Fuji

Don’t worry if you’re traveling solo! Many of our travelers join the trips alone and quickly become part of the group. You can choose shared accommodation to connect with others, or, for an extra charge, enjoy the comfort of your own room.

Under the trips section, you can find the influencer you’re interested in traveling with. During the booking process, you’ll choose between shared or single accommodation and decide if you’d like to add a T-shirt, with proceeds going to a local charity. After filling in your information, select a payment method of your choice, with a 25% down payment required to secure your spot.
